So QPR are going to be relegated with him or are we going to win promotion then?

Eitherway it sounds like a win win to me wink.gif

And i know one day you will come back to haunt tinnions decision to get rid of you.

Good luck Tommy Doc.

You have had quite a bit of stick from certain quarters & sometimes things have a way of backfiring.

You have given this club & it's supporters many seasons of footballing pleasure.

But as a fellow Bristolian & supporter of this great club, you know in your heart of hearts why things didn't work out. (as do so many others)

I wish you all the best for advancing your career, I only wished it was in the red & white.

I expect it will be a real experience listening to Hollowhead deliver his team talks.

Don't forget BT's Christmas card. rofl2br.gif

Can't you lot just bite the bullet for once and wish some luck on a player thats given city years of service .

I do wish him well, but I support BCFC and think this was the best move for both parties.

Understand your sentiments, but the best for any supporter of BCFC was to see the Tom Doc we knew go roaring into tackles in a Red & White shirt.

The reasons behind this move will be argued for some time.

I say it's such a shame that we have lost a real true City fan.

Who IMHO should be turning out this season with the likes of MS.

But hey, thats football & strong personalities for you.

On whose part?

Yes, Tom Doc could & should have put his differences behind him.

But I do reckon that he tried to get his issues resolved, but it's very difficult working & playing for someone who you have had little respect for.

It happens in all walks of life.

BT was always going to be the winner as he is the Manager.

So whether Tom Doc couldn't get his head round BT as manager or whether he gave it a go & couldn't see it improving we may never know.

Lets not slate a player for having known he couldn't achieve his best working under a certain manager.

Not sure about the undisclosed fee though Richie.

I mean a £20 WH Smith Gift Voucher and the entire series of The Office on DVD is a bit steep, even for QPR.

I think it just goes to show how much BT was desperate to rid of Tom Doc.

And for that matter how keen Tom Doc was to move.

As i said in the other thread I wish him all the best, but his well documented off-field activities coupled with his total lack of respect for the manager of the football club makes me seriously doubt that he loves Bristol City as much as you claim.

Its yet to be proven to me about his off field activities, there was some one the other day saying he can be found up the black lion pub in witchurch every night but i don't see him when i go in there.

I've never seen him pi$$ed down town either but i have seen most of the other players down there legless.

Credit where credit is due, but by the same token, criticism when it is needed.

No doubt Tom D was a breath of fresh air, 5 or 6 seasons ago, he was local, young and vibrant, but he has not progressed as we all hoped had expected him to.

Although there have been, and possibly still are others, as our years of stagnation have shown, we cannot afford passengers in the side.

Like it or not, the current regime seem to be trying to root out the complacency in the club, and will not tolerate lacks of fitness or compliance.

In my opinion, any money generated for Tom D's departure, either a fee or saved wages is good business, as his value is dropping all the time, and when his contract ran out he would be as "worthless" to the club as an asset as he appears to have been on the pitch for the majority of recent seasons.

I expect a harsh response to this, but that is what the forum is for - debate and opinion.

thank you for reading this.

I hope he has a great spell at QPR, he has been so unlucky with injuries in his career.. for over two and a half years he didn't play at all and did well to keep faith. At his best, on his day, he's a fantastic footballer and I just hope that he can make a fresh start and fulfill some the awesome potential he had as a kid.

I'm quite sure QPR were taken over quite recently and there finances are good - otherwise they would'nt have even considered Sam Parkin if they had no meny would they?

Anywayz good luck Tommy Doc!

Like to add my best wishes to tommy d, hope he does the business. Kind of hoped we would have still been with us in our glory season. Had his knockers ( and no not breasts as i know how alot of your minds work ) biggrin.gif but i still think he's been one of our best midfielders in a number of years.

Thanks and good luck Tommy, certainly going to miss watching you play, sad to lose another Bristolian. I'm sure Holloway will be able to get more out of you than other managers here have.

Thanks again.

Funny why tinnion said half way through last season Tommy is the fittest hes been for a few seasons then isn't it !!!!!

Funny? perhaps it was a joke!

I fully understand why people like you are upset about this situation, we all remember Tommy bursting on to the scene, an angry young man who scared the wits out of opponents with his heart-on-sleeve performances.

He used to play how i'd like to think i would play -given the chance to pull on the shirt of Bristol City- Full of pride, passion, commitment and an obvious desire to make Bristol City into a better side.

Sadly for whatever reason this is no longer the case.

I sincerely hope he gets his act together for QPR to avoid such continued waste of this obvious talent.

Totally agree with every word, great player, I loved to watch him play wub.gif , so he had bad days, but don't we all, and to me it was nice to see a player be who he is and not what others wanted him to be, somthing like a cross between a monk and a god.

Also good luck to Marc Goodfellow, another good player, from what I seen of him, when he was allowed to play.

Now BT has "HIS" team, lets see what the coming season can offer, because I get the feeling that if we do not go up at the end of it City will be minus one other great player.. the Gaffer as he is now know as.

Most naturally talented player I have ever seen at Ashton Gate, Tommy will be very sorely missed not just for his outstanding ability, but also for his hard Bristolian personality on and off the pitch. My personal favourite player for years, very very sad to the him go, but happy to know his new manager will get the best out of a top quality Championship midfielder.

I would like to remember Tommy for his best seasons and his brilliant contribution to Bristol City Football Club. The best game I have ever seen him play was at Hillsborough season 03/04, he was immense how he came off that pitch on the losing side I will never know.

Good luck in the rest of your career Tommy, I hope it will be just as successful if not more as your long standing career at Ashton Gate. A sad goodbye but also a happy one in the fact you will going to excell in your career at QPR. Good Luck.

Once again, the voice of reason! There is no room for disharmony in the dressing room and given that Tins is here to stay, Tommy had to go.

I'm gutted - he was the heart and soul of the club until it all went sour. We're losing a potentially great player. Watch Holloway get the best out of him now.

Good luck, Tommy, try and stay out of the London clubs the day before a match and watch out all opposing Championship midfielders. What with Brown, Holloway and Doherty, plenty of reasons to watch QPR's progress next season.

Agree with most of what you've written, I wasn't around when Tommy burst onto the scene so can't comment on that. I think he let the club, the supporters and himself down last season with his petulant attitude and poor fitness. We all have to work with people we don't like and most of us just get on with it.

At his best he was a fine player and I hope Holloway can get the best out of him.

at his level yeah mabe! just a shame he could not stay fit and pull his finger out

like danny coles, and get on with his boss, then mabe he would be at that level with us mad.gif

having said that at times he was a good player but when he wanted to.

but all the same good luck to him..

You wer expecting a hat-trick from defensive midfield every game then Tompo?

banghead.gif

I think I would expect more than a goal every 25 games from any midfield player.

Tommy made his debut in 1997. How many goals did Shaun Taylor score that season?

If you want a more like for like comparison, Gerry Gow scored 54 times in 434 appearances (+11 as a sub).

That averages a goal every 8 games, most of which were at a higher level then Tommy has played in.

Caught myself supporting Northern Ireland for a few minutes when Tommy was playing for them against England. This dilemma is now solved for the real match Eng vrs NI qualifier 7th Sept.

Good bye Tommy - end of it. Not interested in Hoops and RRs.

But how many times has Tommy intercepted a pass that would of led to the opposition scoring? Many times! And how many times has Tommy executed a pass himself that has led to us scoring? Many times! He has also produced decent shots that goalkeepers have parried and we have scored from. For the life of me I can't understand why he is hated.

Thanks Tommy you have been a real star for this club at least up until Tinnion took over. Will miss the crunching tackles and the suicidal challenges. You are true class and its a pity that this club has not made sufficient progress to provide you with the challenge you need.

How many times has he lasted a whole match? Don't be daft no-one has said they hate him it's more a case of not tolerating his poor attitude anymore. Like many before him he will find out just how good he had it at city, to which he took full advantage during the last couple of years.

It's a sad loss but we lost Tommy 2 or 3 seasons ago, most people have dealt with it, why don't you?

Not hated by me, more disappointed in him. His obvious talent makes the disappointment worse, he could be so much more with the right application.

Anyway thanks for the good times Tommy and good luck in the future, keep at it.

I think he'll be a success in the Championship personally. Our opposition in the third tier have poor pitches and don't keep the ball on the ground, but Tommy's quick feet will be suited to better opposition pitches and opposition who keep the ball on the deck. Tommy seems to get frustrated when the ball is pinging about in the air, he starts grabbing shirts and getting annoyed and stuff. But when the ball is kept low and the game is played at the pace he feels comfortable at - he's in his element!

No, obviously not. Good enough to play for his country but not good enough for this knuckle head manager in the 3rd division. (actually we have/had a couple of those don't we)

What are you like?
